2-Days & 1 Night Horton Plains & Hill Country Trek
Day 1 – Horton Plains & Devil’s Staircase
We start early at 5:00 AM, picking you up from your hotel with a packed breakfast and driving to Horton Plains National Park. Located at 2,100–2,300 meters above sea level, this UNESCO-listed plateau is famous for its cloud forests, montane grasslands, rich biodiversity, and endemic wildlife.
You will trek for 3–4 hours to the park’s main highlights, including World’s End and Baker’s Falls, before returning to the entrance. A short drive brings us to the starting point of the next hike, descending via the dramatic Devil’s Staircase and passing through Sri Lanka’s highest tea plantations. We enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views before continuing for about 3 hours to Misty Mountain Lodge, a remote tea-estate lodge. Dinner and overnight stay with home-cooked rice and curry.
Day 2 – Forest Walk & Thangamale Bird Sanctuary
After breakfast, we begin one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful forest walks, known for its calming and therapeutic atmosphere. The trail passes through remote tea-estate villages, where you may meet local families and tea pluckers—and even try tea picking yourself.
The trek continues through a variety of landscapes including pine forest, eucalyptus forest, natural forest, rainforest, and scenic tea plantations. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views of both the northern and southern hill country. We also walk along a railway line, pass through a tunnel, and stop for a picnic at a viewpoint.
The hike then leads through Thangamale Bird Sanctuary, an ideal place for birdwatching and, with some luck, spotting wildlife. This 5–6 hour trek ends in Haputale, completing an unforgettable hill-country adventure.

Trekking from Haputale to Ella Through Sri Lanka Tea Plantation and Ella Rock
View Details
2, Days and 1 Night
Day 1 – Tea Plantation Trek in the Misty Hills
No visit to Sri Lanka is complete without exploring the tea plantations of the Hill Country. Today, we trek 5–6 hours through some of the most scenic plantations, rolling misty hills, and panoramic landscapes. Along the way, you’ll see tea pluckers at work—“two leaves and a bud” harvested with skill and precision.
You will even try tea plucking yourself and visit a tea plucker’s home for a fresh cup of tea. The trek includes a picnic lunch among the plantations and is a completely authentic experience, with no other tourists—just the local life and stunning scenery. Overnight stay in Haputale or nearby lodge.
Day 2 – Ella Rock, Ravana Cave & Village
Ella, a charming town in Sri Lanka’s hill country, is the starting point for one of the most rewarding treks: Ella Rock. This 8 km round-trip hike takes about 4 hours, climbing nearly 1,000 meters to the summit at 2,000 meters above sea level. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views of the hill country and surrounding plains.
Unlike typical routes, we take a round tour through forests, villages, and vegetable gardens. A picnic lunch is served on Ella Rock, followed by a descent to Ravana Temple and the option to visit Ravana Falls before returning to Ella town.
This trek combines adventure, nature, and cultural encounters, making it one of the most memorable experiences in Sri Lanka.
